It’s almost May. I’m not sure if I’m excited for it, or worried, or both. I haven’t exactly broached the topic with Lois, and I’m not sure how much she knows about what happens every year.

It’s less a concern about Lara than it is a concern about what the castle might do with us. Lara is my daughter regardless of how Lois feels about it, but I honestly don’t know how I’d feel if Lois woke up with someone else, or I woke up with another woman.

I don’t like hypotheticals.

I’m excited to see Lara again, though.

[Clark’s had a fairly laid-back day. Coffee in the morning, staring at a blank journal page for eons, a trip to the library, a walk around town to poke around and look for anything suspicious, and then a stop at a butcher’s to pick up some bones for the dogs. Then it’s back to the castle, and back to staring at a still mostly-blank page. He has got to find a better use of his time, and making endless laps around town isn't exactly productive most of the time.

Knowing the castle, I guess most of us will be parents again in the next few weeks.

Out of curiosity, how many people here remember the previous years? Looking back at old events and crises here, it seems like the number of people who remember is always dwindling, like the castle doesn't like having too many people with too many memories.

That soon, huh?

Time flies, especially in this place.

So what exactly is this going to be like?

When the castle picks someone, they wake up in a bed with someone else, and there will be another door in the room, leading to a baby's room. Then, it's a week of taking care of the kid, but the catch is you can't eat until the baby does, or sleep until the baby does, and so on.

It's a lot of fun.

This is your idea of fun?

[So. Much. Horror.]

It's not exactly a walk in the park, but it's certainly more fun than monster invasions and murders, Lois.

[Plus he just loves being a dad B)]

[That's debatable] Maybe less with the trauma factor, but a little higher on the awkward scale. How does the castle make with the matchmaking on this one?

Some people luck out with friends or people from their own world; Bruce was with Lana, for example. The rest of it seems random.

... And other people end up waking up next to a total stranger with a tyke in tow? Is that what you're telling me?

No offense, Clark, but I really hope the castle passes over us on that one.

None taken. I don't want that, either.

How long does this last, exactly?

Has it ever happened to you?
